New York City schools are closed for Presidents’ week. During the winter break of 2018, we encourage you to take part in all that Uptown has to offer. There are lots of offerings for the kiddos as well as plenty of family fun.

Below are a few winter camps taking place in Manhattan’s northern neighborhoods during President’s week:

Winter Camps:

The Center by Reach

Their goal is to provide home-schooled children and families with highly engaging and interactive experiences, but you can indulge for the week off from school. Students will be engaging in energetic inquiry-based activities in the arts, mathematics, robotics, math and more! Join The Center by Reach for their  Presidents’ Week Special! The daily rate special is only $25 per student!
Classes will be in session from 9 am – 3 pm from Monday, February 19 through Thursday the 22nd. Note: Lunch will be held from 12 pm to 1 pm. Please send in lunch with your child.

Scribble Art Workshop

School’s out but the studio is SO in! Registration for February break camp is open and spots are limited. February 19th-23rd, join in for one or all five days: For grades K-5, yoga, art, STEAM exploration and a trip to MoMA M-F 9am-3pm. For ages 2-4, yoga, art, sensory open play and sign language M-F 9am-12pm.

Pouncing Tigers Martial Arts

Pouncing Tigers is a combination of complementary martial arts styles. It is designed to teach children that respect and learning are fun. Strength building games, listening exercises, and martial arts techniques are covered in every class. The goal is to plant a seed now so that a love of martial arts, and the excellent habits that come with it, will grow with your child for the rest of their lives. And they love it!

Uptown Stories

Writing Tales of strange and wonderful beasts — like unicorns, dragons, and griffins — exist in every culture and often need protection from a human friend. Writers in this workshop will create a story where beasts and humans live together in harmony or chaos. Decide if the hero of your world is beast or human or both. The possibilities are endless and the choice is all yours. Snacks for kids and beasts will be provided, but be sure to pack a lunch for this epic workshop. Monday February 19th-23rd, 10:00am – 2:00pm. Reading date & time: Friday, February 23rd from 1:00-2:00 PM

Hex & Co

Kids love playing board games but what if you could design an educational program around them? That’s the impetus behind the afterschool enrichment programs at Hex & Company. Kids start by learning a new game and strategy next they revisit the original strategy and develop novel problem-solving skills. Operates February 19-23th; Full day and half day options available. Lunch included in full day options.

ACT at St John the Devine

The Adults and Children in Trust in New York City, ACT program provides year-round educational and recreational programs for children and families. Our programs and services are located on Manhattan’s Upper West Side, on the 11-acre campus of The Cathedral Church of St. John the Divine. Winter camp consists of a trip to an IMAX theater, a mardi gras themed parade, cooking and more. Runs Tuesday, February 20th through Friday, February 23rd.

Kids Passport to Adventure is offering 2 adventures:

February 16th – A day at the Barn
Time: 9:00-2:00
Leaving: 7:30 AM
Activities: Riding, grooming, mucking stalls, and activities!
Cost: $85 including transportation ( $50 if you drive your own vehicle )
You must provide lunch and snacks dress warmly some activities take place outdoors.

February 19th – Ski Monday
Place: Mount Peter Warwick NY
Time 9:00 – 5:00
Cost: $125 including transportation, lift ticket, rental helmet you provide lunch
( $95 if you drive your own vehicle or $80 if I have a helmet that fits your child )
