From Let’s Talk Schools:
Just as every student has unique needs, every school has unique strengths. Let’s Talk Schools believes when parents are empowered with information to find the right school for their child, everyone wins. We are interested in helping parents explore their school options.

During our event, you will have the opportunity to learn about various schools, including those you may not have considered, and receive guidance through the independent school and Hunter application process during our panel discussion.

Admission directors and representatives from kindergarten and middle school programs will be at the school fair to provide information and answer questions. Learn about:
– Kindergarten and middle school applications
– Screening tests (Stanford Binet, AABL, and others)
– What to look for on tours and what to expect
– Financial aid
– how admissions decisions are made, and more!

About Let’s Talk Schools creator:
Mahalia Watson is a Harlem parent and founder of Let’s Talk Schools, which produces education events and provides a resource to help New York City parents navigate the confusing maze of educational choices. As a lifelong problem-solver who believes deeply in the importance of an excellent education, she could no longer stand the lack of information parents faced when trying to make crucial decisions.

Approaching the field of education as a career path rather than a personal passion was a change for Watson. Previously, she enjoyed a successful career in print and broadcast production as executive producer at Tapestry Creative Management and director of photography and catalog production at Tommy Hilfiger, where she oversaw construction and operation of a digital photography studio responsible producing images of the entire Tommy Hilfiger product lines.
Watson is a contributing school reviewer to the website.
