Uptown Stories – Year Round Writing for ages 8-14

Uptown Stories is a federally approved non-profit creative writing program in Washington Heights. Classes are structured primarily as workshops, where the students read and discuss each other’s writing, creating a community of young authors. Workshops meet on a ten-week cycle, with nine two-hour-long classes followed by a celebratory reading in the evening for friends and family.  To ensure our workshops are accessible to all children, families pay tuition at a self-determined rate, from $500 for full tuition to $1. We’ve hatched! Uptown Birdies had a blast at our website launch party! We hosted our soiree at the beautiful Rio II Gallery space in Hamilton Heights on Saturday, June 10, 2017. There were crafts set up as well as an awesome photo booth complete with props. We got to meet and mingle with other Uptown families while showcasing some of our favorite local businesses. If you’ve ever been through the private school application process, you know that it’s not easy. It consumes your life! We applied to eight schools for little 4-year-old Sara.
